World Wrestling Championship: Maxim Manukyan brings new gold medal to Armenia

Maxim Manukyan of Armenia earned the country’s second gold medal in the World Wrestling Championship in Paris, France.

The sportsman won his first ever world champion’s title in the final round bringing together sportsmen in the 80kg weight class.

He beat Belarus’ Radik Kuliev 5-0, marking a landmark success in his sporting career.

In the semi-finals, the Armenian wrestler celebrated victory over Georgia’s Zurabi Datunashvili, an acting champion of Europe (7-0). He also gained advantage over Iranian and German rivals in the qualifiers.

Earlier, Artur Aleksanyan won gold, becoming a world champion for the third time.
